Many customers predicted the sea freight would go down in Mar,2021. Contrary to the forecast, since March, the sea freight has remained strong, and the sea freight to some destination ports has even continued to rise.
The sea freight from China ports to some Middle East ports, Turkey, Egypt has gone down more or less.
However, the sea freight to Africa, Norch America,Latin America are still very strong, what’s more, the sea freight for some ports has risen further. For example, the sea freight was around USD9500/40HQ to Nigeria ports in February, now it has been around USD11000/40HQ in March, more than 15% higher than last month.
In order to reduce costs, many Chinese suppliers including us have focused on bulk vessel shipments. Although the transportation time is longer than containers shipment, the sea freight can be much cheaper.
Some customers have slowly begins to accept bulk vessel transportation. But one of the disadvantages of bulk vessel shipment is that the destination ports they arrive are limited. In other words, they don't go to some destination ports.
We do hope the ocean freight can be reduced as soon as possible, so that some of the interrupted business can slowly resume.
