Release of China National Standard for Chemical Industry Park: The number of chemical industry parks in China may be controlled at around 800 in the future

Recently, the national standard of guidelines for comprehensive evaluation of chemical industry parks (GB / T 39217-2020) was officially issued and will be implemented on February 1, 2021.

Chemical industry park is an important support for the transformation and upgrading of China's petroleum and chemical industry and an important engine of regional development. It is also the outcome of modern chemical industry in order to adapt to the transformation of resources or raw materials, and comply with the development trend of large-scale, intensive, optimized, internationalized operation and maximum benefit. After the end of World War II, the construction of chemical industry belt in developed countries promoted the economic recovery and take-off after World War II.

According to the statistical data of China Petrochemical Federation, by the end of 2018, there were 676 national key chemical parks or industrial parks with petroleum and chemical industry as the leading industry, with a year-on-year increase of 12.48%. In recent years, chemical industry safety accidents occur frequently. In March 2019, Jiangsu Xiangshui chemical explosion incident pushed the safety production of chemical enterprises to the forefront of the storm.

This makes the chemical industry face severe investigation and rectification, and the quantity of chemical industry parks will be greatly reduced to promote the renovation and upgrading of the chemical industry parks. The number of chemical industry parks in some provinces have been greatly reduced, and it is expected that the growth rate of China's chemical industry parks will slow down in the next three years. According to the prediction of China Business Industry Research Institute, the number of chemical industry parks will be about 800 in 2020.
